Lewis Hamilton Comforts George Russell After a Gut-Wrenching DNF in Imola

Lewis Hamilton secured his 93rd win at the Imola GP on Sunday. He was followed by Valtteri Bottas at P2 and Daniel Ricciardo at P3.
Max Verstappen had an unfortunate tire blowout which led to a safety car. It looked at that moment that George Russell was well set to score his first Formula 1 points in Williams.
However, it all came crashing down when Russell went full throttle on his cold tires and straight into the walls during the safety car. Following the race, Lewis Hamilton and Romain Grosjean were seen consoling and encouraging Russell on social media.

The Williams driver was seen sitting dejected on the side of the track, asking the marshalls to leave him alone. A flashback to Mika Hakkinen on his knees and in tears at the 1999 Italian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton and Grosjean reply to a disheartened Russell
After the race, George Russell was not happy with himself. In a post-match interview, he said, “It’s gutting. I am really sorry for all the guys.” He also took to social media to apologize to the entire team and vowed to not forget the day.
First, Romain Grosjean replied to Russell’s tweet. He expressed that he understands what Russell is going through. Later, Lewis Hamilton shared his thoughts on Russell’s performance. The world champion tried his best to cheer up the Williams driver.

Fernando Alonso picks Russell as the future star
Fernando Alonso was asked to pick a driver from the younger generation who will, in his view, be the future F1 star. He expressed that if he had to pick a name, it will have to be George Russell. He explained that Russell has made no mistakes and has managed to squeeze the best out of that Williams.
Russell has shown some brilliant flashes of speed and skill since his debut last year. He has taken Williams into Q2 on numerous occasions this season. Moreover, he has narrowly missed out on going to Q1 more than once.
