Fernando Alonso Offered “Lucrative Multi-Year Contract” by Aston Martin After Christian Horner’s ‘Big Intentions’ to Sign Him

After the Australian Grand Prix, Ralf Schumacher said Christian Horner has “always been a fan, very, very big fan of Fernando Alonso.” But it was his follow-up sentence that sent the F1 world into a frenzy. He claimed that Red Bull had “big intentions in the background” to sign Fernando Alonso. However, merely two days after those comments, reports have emerged of Aston Martin offering their star driver a new contract.
Lawrence Stroll’s biggest ambitions rely on Alonso staying with Aston Martin. While Lance Stroll has been showing rare glimpses of excellence, maintaining consistency seems to be his weak point. Contrary to this, Alonso, despite being a relatively older driver, seems to be selling like hotcakes in the F1 driver market. So Christian Horner, who is still unsure about renewing Sergio Perez’s contract for 2025, is naturally keeping his options open.
But like a shrewd businessman, Lawrence Stroll has already attempted to seal the deal for his Spanish driver. After the Australian Grand Prix, BBC’s Andrew Benson reported, “Aston Martin wants to keep Alonso and have already offered him a lucrative new multi-year contract, and will only look elsewhere if he moves.”

Speculations around Fernando Alonso’s 2025 contract started flying high after Lewis Hamilton shook up the driver market with his Ferrari move. Rumors of his conversations with Mercedes and Red Bull emerged. But what precedes all this is the Spaniard’s decision on whether he wants to stay in F1 after 2024, let alone driving for a rival team.
Mike Krack addressed the same in Saudi Arabia. He said, “Well, I think Fernando highlighted many times now that first, he needs to be sure about himself and what he wants to do because he’s a driver that is not participating in Formula One. When he runs, he wants to be at the front. And the commitment that you need for that, I think he’s very aware of it. So he needs to make up his mind first if he wants to stay. And then if that’s the case, we will push or we give everything that he stays with us.”
