Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari are 7 races away from parting with one another. The split has not been an easy one, and Vettel has been reeling from its side-effects this season. His time with the Maranello-based outfit has been far from a fairy tale. But the 2-time World Champion, Fernando Alonso, thinks that the German will leave the Scuderia with happy memories.

Alonso, like Vettel, came to Ferrari with a dream to win more world titles; however, neither were able to realize their dreams. While that is certainly disheartening, Alonso believes that it is only the good memories that live on.

He said (translated by Google), “We are all coming to Ferrari with great anticipation. It’s the most legendary team in Formula 1. It’s special to drive for Ferrari.

“Even if I didn’t win the title, it was a very positive experience for me. I think Sebastian will have positive memories of Ferrari too, even if he didn’t win the world championship with them. I think we both lacked the car and the technical capabilities at the right moment.”

Fernando Alonso’s advice to Sebastian Vettel

The Spaniard opines that Vettel should open up to new challenges and take his mind off F1 at times. The new Renault driver for 2021 thinks Vettel should try his hand at other motorsport activities.

Alonso said, “When you sign with Ferrari, you assume that you can win the world cup. But sometimes you are not lucky when the moment is right and opportunities slip by.

“That’s why in my career I tried not to concentrate only on Formula 1 and, for example, drove the 24 Hours of Le Mans and tried to win everything I can.”

Perhaps Vettel could consider the Endurance Racing after he decides to close the chapter on his F1 career. However, for now, the German will most certainly dedicate his full focus to driving for Aston Martin in 2021.

With only 17 points from 10 races, Vettel is having a miserable final season with the Prancing Stallion. Heading to Germany for the Eifel Grand Prix on the 11th of October, Vettel would love to be among the points.

But that is easier said than done, a reflection of Ferrari and Vettel’s struggles in 2020. Nevertheless, with his home crowd rallying behind him, it could be just the morale booster that the 33-year-old needs.
