‘He Will Be Vulnerable’ – Daniel Ricciardo Confident of Bahrain GP Chances

Daniel Ricciardo qualified 6th in his first qualifying session with McLaren while Alpha Tauri’s Perrie Gasly is a position ahead of him. Hence, the Australian driver will aim to defeat the Frenchman in the opening race of the season.

The Honeybadger hopes that Gasly will be vulnerable at the start of the race but believes the Frenchman can be very quick with the medium tires. Meanwhile, McLaren’s Norris finished 7th on the grid while Japan’s Yuki Tsunoda placed 13th for tomorrow’s race.

Daniel Ricciardo aims to beat French driver, Gasly in his first race with McLaren

The Australian driver said, “It is going to be very unpredictable. I am sure that Gasly will be quick on the Medium, but maybe at the start he will be vulnerable.”

Ricciardo even spoke about Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and hopes to put on a good fight for the first race of the season.

Charles put in a good lap. He did that last year as well.”

“Does he have the race pace to keep it? We are not sure. I am sure that their car is better this year. I think we have a few good fights, maybe two or other three teams tomorrow,” Ricciardo concluded.

Ricciardo was concerned about not getting into sync with the MCL35M but is happy with the progress up until this point, ahead of his debut race for the Woking-based outfit

He said, “We were all concerned that we only had three days and only three half days per driver but I think when reliability is working and everything is running smooth. It was enough time to get comfortable.I’m sure I will continue to get better just the more I drive the car and get familiar with the team.”

Ricciardo added, “But I certainly feel I’m in a good place to start the season and I think for an expectation of where the team is, we have to really try and fight for and know we are in that top three where the team was last year.”
