Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is currently leading the Drivers’ Championship by 12 points over Lewis Hamilton. He has won 3 races this season and has also claimed two poles. He recently won the French Grand Prix with an assured drive. This is the first time in his career that Verstappen is leading a championship. But being in front of the field has not worried and troubled the Red Bull driver one bit.

“Even if I wouldn’t [win a title], it’s not going to make my life more miserable or whatever,” said Max. ” I’m doing what I enjoy and you need luck in your life to be at the right place at the right time for a long time and some eras are longer than others.

Sometimes there’s more competition and you have years where you are fighting for a title with different teams, and sometimes it’s just like proper domination by one team, but you see it in every sport,” said Verstappen.

Max continued, “If you are in the wrong era, I wouldn’t say you are f*cked, but there is less of a chance that you can reach those statistics. For me, it doesn’t define the greatest driver ever.

Being a world champion needs raw talent and a cool head under pressure. Max Verstappen is showcasing both these qualities this season and winning the championship is his target.

He definitely has a competitive car in which he can challenge for wins and podiums in every race weekend. But Max is taking it race-by-race and is not getting ahead of himself.

He has mentioned he just wants to win the next race and not think about the championship. If he wins enough races and gains enough points, he will become world champion soon.
