In the end, Norris won by a narrow margin- almost as intense as an F1 race. The fans had their say and the man of the moment was the McLaren driver. Even Norris took the win happily. “Wow. My first f1 win.”

Looking back at Lando Norris’ fan-favorite overtake

Monza truly was a strong showing for McLaren. A great weekend for the team; from a good sprint qualifying to an even better race result. It was a weekend to remember for the team and Norris had a lot to be proud of.

Norris’ race start was, simply put, impeccable. As Daniel Ricciardo took the race lead from Max Verstappen at the first chicane, behind him, his teammate fought hard.

Hamilton was further behind than he would have liked and jumped Norris at the race-start to claim third. But as seen in Silverstone, Norris doesn’t yield. He quickly slipped ahead of Lewis to a very crucial P3.

He held his ground as the title protagonists collided in his mirrors. As the safety car was brought out, the race restart on lap 31 was crucial. Norris was behind Charles Leclerc, who clung to the P2 given to him after a free pitstop.

The safety car was brought in; Ricciardo aced his restart, as Lando Norris pressurized his Ferrari rival, and within two quick turns, the P2 was his; thus, making him a part of a historic and only 1-2 finish of the season.

It was after this confident run in Monza, Norris proved his mettle in Sochi. Although the race ended in heartbreak, it surely was a glimpse into a very promising 2022 season for the driver. Maybe, an actual maiden win isn’t too far for Norris.
