Football is one sport that unites the whole world. Even the Americans love watching ‘soccer’, and it is one of the most popular sports in the whole world. So, it wouldn’t be surprising that even Formula One drivers enjoy playing or watching the beautiful game. Recently, the FC Barcelona team gifted Lewis Hamilton a team kit and he thanked them for it.

Furthermore, he declared that he will be cheering for Barcelona when El Clasico kicks off on Sunday. However, McLaren driver Carlos Sainz was not too thrilled at Hamilton’s love for FC Barcelona. This is because, the Spaniard is a proud Real Madrid supporter and he often watches Madrid’s matches.

Admittedly, Lewis Hamilton is actually loyal to the Arsenal football team. The 6-time world champion even got ‘an offer’ from Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the 2019 Italian Grand Prix. Aubameyang wrote on social media, “You know I love cars, so let’s say this day was amazing. Thanks for your time Lewis. We’re waiting for you to come to the stadium.”

Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz admitted in 2018 that he would have loved to put the Real Madrid badge on the McLaren car. Unfortunately, he never really followed through with that plan, though his love of the Galacticos is undying.

The two drivers are currently preparing for the opening race of the 2020 Formula One season. Lewis Hamilton will be gunning for a record-equalling 7th world championship. On the other hand, Carlos Sainz Jr will be aiming to consolidate McLaren’s 4th place in the championship. Maybe he could even challenge the top 3 constructors, if it isn’t too much of a stretch.

Finally, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will face off on Sunday night as the latter aim to close the gap in La Liga. Both sides have suffered heavy losses due to injury, like Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto for Barca. On the other side of the fence, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Mariano Diaz are out of action for Real Madrid.
