Because of Russell’s excellent performance, he might have become the favorite at the Brackley base. And this is threatening the 37-year-old who has been the Mercedes number one for a long time. At the FP3 of the Spanish GP, the Mercedes engineer Peter Bonnington informed Hamilton that the sector times he was given were against Russell. But the seven-time world champion snapped at Bono and said, “I only ever want to know the fastest times.”

Well, to win he at least needs to be ahead of Russell, which hasn't managed this season, be it practice, qualifying or race!

Lewis really didn’t wanna hear that shit looooool
— Blackity Black F1 Podcast (@QuickStopF1) May 21, 2022
Not a great attitude, they're only telling him Georges sectors because Lewis is slower at the minute
— GarySnail96 (@Gary_Snail96) May 21, 2022
literally how does that help??? he’s trynna be at the top of the table. not his teammate
— S (@pixeloverloadz) May 21, 2022
Why would he want to know the lap time of a completely different car, which he won’t be able to beat even with a perfect lap? Makes much more sense to compare him with his teammate, who’s in the same car.
