Lewis Hamilton Reportedly Auctioning Off Mercedes Race Suit Following Title Triumph

Lewis Hamilton recorded history at the Turkish Grand Prix as he won his 7th Drivers’ Championship. Hamilton started the race from P6 and was not expected to win the race. However, the Briton conjured up a championship drive and fought his way up to the top of the podium.

The racing conditions at the Istanbul park were very tough. Valtteri Bottas spun around the track 6 times and Max Verstappen lost his podium finish failing to find grip. However, Hamilton displayed immense patience and skill to win the championship.

And now it looks like Lewis Hamilton will be auctioning off his racing suit for charity. He is supporting the charity marathon “RTL- We Help Children“.

According to reports, “At United Charity, Europe’s largest charity auction portal, F1 fans and interested parties now have the chance to get Hamilton’s worn overalls from the Silverstone race.”

At the post-race interview, the champion clarified that he still has a few more years under his belt. Meanwhile, he clarified the bigger purpose of continuing his Formula 1 career. Social projects have always been close to Hamilton’s heart.

Hamilton explained he has to keep working towards the team and the sport. He has also been a part of important social commitments including the fight against climate change, animal cruelty, and racism.

Formula 1 fans and other parties stand a chance of owning the champion’s overalls from the Silverstone race. People can submit bids for this racing suit until the 19th of this month at www.unitedcharity.de. The money from the bid will be put to a good cause.

Lewis Hamilton equaled Michael Schumacher’s record of 7 World Championship titles. Meanwhile, he also helped Mercedes to their record-breaking 7th Constructors’ Championship this season.

Lewis Hamilton will be out of the contract by the end of the season. Toto Wolff has clarified that they are looking to close the deal with Hamilton before Christmas. However, Hamilton has specified that he wants to focus on racing.

The pair will get to the deal after this season ends. He will be looking to break Schumacher’s record come 2021; after all, records are meant to be broken, not equaled. It will be interesting to see whether Hamilton wins his 8th world title next season or not.
