The biggest talking point in the world of F1 yesterday, barring the race at Imola, was the announcement of Miami joining the calendar for the 2022 season. The news made a lot of American F1 fans happy with another race in the USA being added. Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton also shares the same emotions.
The Mercedes superstar sees the race in Miami as a massive positive not just for the racing spectacle but also for the jobs it would generate.
When asked prior to the race about what he felt regarding Miami joining the calendar, Lewis said, “It’s amazing! America is naturally such a big place, it always felt like we needed at least two races, if not more, there.

“They’re such huge sporting fans out there. When you go to any of their sporting events, there’s a huge amount of passion. The great thing is it’s going to give jobs to 4,000 people in the rural area. It can be a really positive thing. (And) the weather is always amazing, what a spot to go!”
Hamilton also claimed that Miami has the potential to be the drivers’ favorite destination to go to on the F1 calendar. And it’s hard to see why not.
The race will be held around the famous Hard Rock stadium. The circuit is 5.41 kilometers long and is expected to have three DRS zones. Cars are expected to hit a top speed of 320 KM/H, which should make for some great racing. However, there is other important business to tend to before the race in Miami arrives.

Hamilton lost out to Max Verstappen at Imola, but that was after a shocking rare error from Lewis. The fact that he still managed to come home in P2 shows the level he is at and the capabilities of the machine he drives.
Thus he remains very much the man to beat come the race in Portugal. The Algarve circuit made its F1 debut last year, and it was none other than Lewis who took home the plaudits.
