An indication that you are headed in the right direction is receiving praise from every direction. However, if a champion athlete commends your work, it might put a rubber stamp on your talent. Double champion Max Verstappen, who is getting closer with each passing day to break Sebastian Vettel‘s record, experienced precisely this scenario. The Dutchman’s supremacy on the track delighted Sebastian Vettel, and the winner of 53 Grand Prix recently rebuffed all attempts to diminish Verstappen’s dominance. Though in the process, Sergio Perez has been caught.

Sebastian Vettel, who was a powerful force with the Red Bull in his own career, is well aware of what it takes to challenge Max Verstappen’s position of dominance. With just 11 races remaining for him to surpass Vettel’s record and into the top three of all-time greatest drivers, Verstappen’s dominance has recently been attempted to be pulled down.

Sometimes a fellow competitor will make some proposals in an effort to bring Max Verstappen and the company down. The other time, the hegemony was attempted to be broken on the track by the rivals themselves. However, none were successful in halting Verstappen’s winning streak.

And recently in a press conference at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the iconic driver was found hailing the talent of Max Verstappen. Initially, Vettel said, “Max (Verstappen) deserves all the credit because he’s just doing an excellent job. He is a great talent and he hardly makes any mistakes.” [Translated Via Google]

Later, the four-time champion highlighting the silly errors Sergio Perez makes, added, “I don’t want to say that Sergio (Pérez, Verstappen’s teammate, ed.) is a less good driver, but with him, you can see where the mistakes come easily.” Clearly, Vettel has indicated the silly mistakes made by Perez which have kept him out of title contention, despite having the fastest car on the grid.

Many people are drawing comparisons between the Sebastian Vettel era of Red Bull and the way Verstappen is demonstrating his supremacy on the track. And when Vettel himself was asked the same question, he gave a modest explanation.

Sebastian Vettel responds to the analogy to his and Max Verstappen’s dominance Era

Sebastian Vettel may have experienced everything over his sixteen-year Formula 1 career. The four years he spent with Red Bull between 20190-2013, whether it was during his heated arguments with Mark Webber or the days when he had shown his ruthlessness on the track, will probably be the ones that will live in his and the hearts of Red Bull fans the longest.

Fans and analysts detect a similar vibe when they observe Verstappen. However, the latter’s attitude has been given a touch more ferocity. Given his dominance with Red Bull, where the Milton Keynes team has won 19 of the last 20 races, and the Dutchman himself claimed  8 out of 10 races this season, Vettel was asked to make an analogy between his time and Verstappen’s, to which the 36-year-old gave a very modest answer.

He said, “In my opinion, every year is different, and so are dominant periods. So comparing becomes very difficult and pointless because the time in which I achieved my performance cannot be compared to contemporary racing. The only comparable thing about both situations: even now, with Verstappen in the RB19 car, everything seems to be right.”
