Lewis Hamilton Reveals the Reason Behind His Incredible Pace at the Portuguese Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton managed to showcase some serious pace during the race as he saw the chequered flag way ahead of his teammate in Portugal.
Following the race win, Lewis revealed that he had challenged his engineer before the race, which was the reason behind his dominant display at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

During the post-race interview, Lewis opened up about his engineers’ contribution through his journey to his 92nd race win in Formula 1. “They’re never too happy. So I really enjoy the collaboration that we have,” he said.
“I’m so proud that we listen to each other, challenge each other. This weekend, I challenged on certain things. That’s why I had the speed that I had today.
“And I feel good about that. To be ought to challenge engineers who are so intelligent, and to speak to them on the same wavelength in certain areas is a cool position to be in.”
Lewis, through his career, has always credited his team rather than himself for his successes. Now, in the wake of setting a new record for the highest number of race wins, his credit unsurprisingly went to his team, Mercedes, who have managed to provide him with a powerful car, powerful enough to stay on top for over half a decade.

Lewis revealed that he was indebted to the engineers who worked with him “weekend in weekend out” throughout his time with Mercedes.
“I feel fantastic, naturally. Of course, very grateful to; I’m just constantly thinking about the guys that I’m working with. Everyone has come here weekend in weekend out.

“And the guys back at the factory continue to believe in me. You know, we’ve been together a long time. So, I sometimes have to ask the guys. Because, of course, you can get used to success.
“But I’m like, ‘You guys are still pushing, right?’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah’,” he added. Lewis dominated the entire race in Portugal as he crossed the line with a massive 20 second lead over his teammate, Valtteri Bottas.

Though the Finn looked strong for the better part of the weekend, Lewis pulled things back extremely well to snatch his 8th race win of this season.
Meanwhile, his teammate looks baffled at the moment with his chances of lifting the championship trophy this year disappearing as each race weekend passes him by.
