Mick’s favorite moment in Formula 1

Speaking to SkySport, the young German revealed that he always enjoys watching the moment when his father won his first championship title with Ferrari in 2004.

If you look back on all the races, my father’s first world championship title with Ferrari is definitely a goosebump moment for me when I look at it,” he said.

The 2000 world championship season witnessed the title fight going to the penultimate race weekend at the Suzuka Circuit. The German had pressure piling over him from Mika Hakkinen.

Michael Schumacher was on the pole while Hakkinen lined up P2 on the grid. However, during the race start, the latter blitzed past the German, leaving Schumacher’s title hopes hanging.

At one point during the Japanese Grand Prix, it looked like Hakkinen might just beat Schumacher for the title. However, lucky for Schumacher, his smart pit-stop strategy made sure that he finished ahead of the Finn and lifted what was his third title in F1.

Mick Schumacher reveals his first-ever F1 track visit

Schumacher Jr opened up about the time he entered the F1 paddock for the first time in his life. It was in 2010 when F1 drivers were racing at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

I was there in Budapest in 2010, it was the first time and I was close and also in the meetings. I was there in 2017 or 2018 in Hockenheim, which of course was very exciting for me.”

Mick, so far, has shown glimpses of his father’s on-track talent during his two-year outing in Formula 2, especially during his second season.

Despite lagging behind on the driver’s standings until the half-way point, Mick returned stronger for the second half of the 2020 season, constantly chipping in a handful of points for his team. In the end, he lifted the championship title, despite a disappointing finale race weekend in Bahrain.

Overall, it has been an applaudable racing career from Mick Schumacher. However, the bigger question is whether he will carry the incredible form into Formula 1 as well. Let’s wait and watch how Schumi Jr’s career pans out.
