A pilot of the fastest cars in the world, Lewis Hamilton missed an opportunity of a lifetime when he had to bow out of Top Gun when he was to play a pilot. While we see Tom Cruise still flying planes, he began in the world of blazing-fast speed when he starred in the cult classic Days of Thunder. While NASCAR has already had its Hollywood hurrah, Formula 1 is still in waiting. But it is safe to say that the wait is over as Brad Pitt will become a part of an 11th team at Silverstone race weekend this year.

Wonder what’s brewing? A big-budget movie being co-produced by Lewis Hamilton starring Brad Pitt will shoot racing sequences at the British Grand Prix. And this crossover with the world of entertainment cannot help but remind us of the 1990 movie Days of Thunder. Cruise had shot the movie on actual tracks like Charlotte Motor Speedway, Daytona, Darlington, etc and the cherry on the cake was the legends like “The King” Richard Petty also featured in it.

While Lewis will not star in the film to fans’ disappointment, Brad Pitt is ready to get down and dirty. F1 Journalist Will Buxton has now fed the grapevine. He revealed that Pitt will drive a modified F2 car worked on by Mercedes around the home of Formula 1, i.e. at Silverstone. And while the conjectures run high, it will happen when the track is empty between the sessions.

Hamilton, who told the media that he intends to don a rainbow flag on his headgear during the Miami GP, also told them about his big-money project with Pitt. He revealed to the media his close association with the development of the script and working alongside director Joseph Kosinski.

Lewis said, “We’ve got a really great and diverse cast. Joe’s focus is to make us as embedded in this sport as possible. For me, it’s to make sure it’s authentic, and that all of you and racing fans see its authenticity and say ‘this is believable’, and have a view of racing from a different perspective than you might see on TV. I’m spending a lot of time right now helping Joe and the team get the script right. It’s an amazing process and I’m really enjoying it.”
