Oliver Bearman makes history as he becomes the youngest driver to take on a Ferrari for a spin during a Formula 1 Grand Prix. The SF24 has been kind enough to Bearman in helping him attain a super impressive P7, not to mention, leaving behind the 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Although this is a feat that he didn’t ever imagine achieving at the age of 18, and that too on his first ever race, according to him, there are still some things he could’ve done differently.

The young Brit has shown the entire grid that he has some serious potential. He did justice by taking on Carlos Sainz Jr’s place by scoring some precious points for Ferrari. With so little experience in the Formula 1 cockpit, the driver outdid 13 of the top reputed drivers in his first race in an F1 car.

As Charles Leclerc had an effortless podium finish, Oliver Bearman blessed F1 fans with an outstanding performance that will be spoken about for years to come, finishing P7 in Jeddah, and helping Ferrari maintain the lead from Mercedes. However, following the first ever race that Oliver Bearman spent behind the wheel of the red car, he shared some regrets.

Bearman said,My regret is I was insufficient in trying to pass Nico. Because honestly, I was in a faster car and I should’ve overtaken more quickly.” It’s just been the first race, and Bearman showcases why he deserves the seat by showing unhindered dedication.

The young Brit racer explained the Nico Hülkenberg situation in detail. He exclaimed, “But he used his experience well to use the battery at the right places. The problem is when you drain your battery trying to overtake, you have to wait for a couple of laps to recharge. So lost a bit of time there.” While this is nothing to regret as Bearman is not used to driving an F1 car to efficiently manage the battery, the 19-year-old believes he could have done better.

Does this mean Oliver Bearman will permanently be on the F1 grid in 2025?

It is still too soon to say if the young talent will be promoted from F2 to F1. However, he does have a super license, which is valid for the next two years, but beyond that, with Max leading the grid-like usual, it depends on how this season goes. Currently, there are many drivers who are getting off their contracts after this season. With that comes the chance for the substitute driver to get on the grid.

Moreover, if that is to happen, there are two teams that Bearman can try out for. One is Ferrari, and the other one is Haas. Now, it’s clear that Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will be driving the Ferraris for next season. This leaves out Haas. The team has struggled with finding the right combination of drivers and vehicles to push them ahead this season and maybe a fresh driver is what they need.

With that being said, next season will be quite interesting as Haas might just decide to take on a promising rookie that confirmed points for Ferrari. Do you think we will get to see Bearman as a full-time driver in F1 soon? Let us know your thoughts below.
