It’s almost as if Mercedes and especially Lewis Hamilton are getting the old band together. The Brit has been suffering tremendously ever since the end of the 2021 season after Mercedes failed to build a competitive enough car under the leadership of Mike Elliott. The Brit’s manager and close friend Marc Hynes left his side as well after the 2021 season. A year after suffering literal pain from the W13, his closest ally and physio Angela Cullen also left his side, leaving a big gaping hole in his team. However, with the 2024 season approaching and Mercedes preparing for a comeback, so is Hamilton.

To put it kindly, Mercedes has been sub-par in the last couple of seasons with one win overall and no chances of another. However, for the 2024 season, the Brackley outfit is gearing up for a comeback and to help the star man achieve his goal. This is exactly why Mercedes has already made internal changes back in Brackley. Now Hamilton is doing so as well. The Brit has already gotten one person from his championship-winning days back on the team. Now it remains to be seen if he will make Angela Cullen join his ranks again.

Mercedes was a force to be reckoned with during the turbo-hybrid era. The team won an unprecedented and back-to-back seven drivers and eight constructor’s championships. However, since the 2022 season, Mercedes has been a shadow of their previous self, and their chief rivals Red Bull have been flying high, setting standards and breaking records. Hence, launching a comeback, Mercedes has taken some important steps in preparation for the 2024 season and Hamilton is not sitting ideal as well.

The team has already swapped the roles of Mike Elliott and James Allison in April of last year. The man who was responsible for the continued success of Mercedes in the championship until 2021 is back on the hot seat as the Technical Director and will be responsible for the 2024 challenger. This is the first step in the comeback, the car.

Taking things into his own hands on a personal level, Hamilton brought his trusted ally Marc Hynes back into the fold. The F3 champion and Hamilton’s old friend was part of his team as his manager. Hynes rejoins Hamilton after 2021 and will be responsible solely for racing activities.

A spokesperson said, “Lewis is looking forward to the beginning of the new Formula One season, and he will be working with Marc Hynes, his long-term friend and former colleague who will be providing his expertise to assist Lewis on the track. Marc will be solely focused on racing activities and supporting Lewis’s commitment to bringing the fight back to the top spot.”

However, now comes the discussion of perhaps the most important person on Hamilton’s team, Angela Cullen.

Will Angela Cullen also join Hamilton’s team for a last hurrah

Hamilton has extended his contract with Mercedes for a further two years. The Brit will try his best to get back on top and give his best shot to secure the elusive eighth championship title in the next couple of years. With the Brit turning 40 by next year, the upcoming two seasons are extremely crucial for him and his F1 future. This is why we believe he will try everything to get Cullen back on his payroll.

Cullen and Hamilton were inseparable during their eight years together, during which Hamilton won six of his seven titles and she always had his back. We are already aware of the importance of a physio in an F1 driver’s life. So after losing Cullen at the end of the 2022 season with her desire for a new adventure, Hamilton might convince her to join the circus again for one last hurrah.

To fan this fire, news outlet GP Fans reported the Kiwi was back in the UK with a photo of the Tower Bride posted on her Instagram. The physio left to look for new adventures and took the entire 2023 off to travel and explore to refill her social battery. Now, as she looks for a new adventure in 2024, a fight back to the top with her old pal might be a good enough excuse to return to Formula 1.

Whether we will see the trusted physio back on the track in 2024 remains to be seen. However, we are sure Hamilton has the intent to get her back, as he wouldn’t want to leave any stone unturned in his bid to fight for the championship once again.
