Sebastian Vettel had a disappointing start in his first race for Aston Martin. It all started even before the race had begun, he had to face a grid penalty since he didn’t slow down for the yellow flags during the qualifying session. Hence the four-time world champion started from last on the grid.

During the race, Vettel had a collision with Alpine’s Esteban Ocon at turn one of the track and got a 10 second time penalty, which he was told after the race. The German finished in 15th place in his first race for Aston Martin.

Vettel’s teammate, Lance Stroll, finished P10, earning a single point for the Silverstone-based team. The team hopes they can do better for the second round coming up in Italy.

In the post-race interview with Sky Sport, Vettel said, “I was trying to cut back to the left but Esteban was moving left as well and then when I was right behind him I locked the fronts and hit him straight on,”

“So obviously that was not great for both of our races.” Vettel concluded.

Not a great start for the four-time world champion in his new chapter

Vettel’s first race for the Silverstone didn’t go as planned as he had a grid penalty and a ten-second time penalty due to his collision with Ocon. He told Sky Sports, “We tried the one-stop, we had to try something different. Initially, it looked like it wasn’t that bad but towards the end. I was struggling quite a lot with tyres so I don’t think I could have realistically scored points today.”

Aston Martin didn’t get the result they were hoping for after returning to the world of Formula One after sixty years. However, Lance Stroll finished 10th earning a single point for the Silverstone-based.
