Daniel Ricciardo can always be seen sporting a pair of colorful Beats headphones ahead of every single race he has driven in Formula 1.
The Australian revealed that music is something that has helped him settle into a competitive mindset before every race. Hence, he mentioned that he would not be able to live without his custom-designed headphones.
In the video, Ricciardo termed his headphone as a form of his privacy before a race. “We don’t get much privacy before a race. This is my form of privacy. You know typically I’ll go with something with a little bit of bounce to it so that I can stay loose and ready,” he said.
Ricciardo explained his headphone’s design and also related it with the design of his helmet. He added that the headphones were “quite special” to him. “They’re custom from Beats and they are in my helmet design,” he said.
“So it’s completely accustomed to myself, Daniel Ricciardo. It’s got the number 3 on it. That’s my racing number and it’s tattooed on me. I’m not superstitious or anything. But it is my lucky number, and I love it,” Ricciardo added.
Daniel Ricciardo reveals his choice of music depends on his starting position for a race
Ricciardo opened up about his choice of music before the start of every race. “If qualifying didn’t go well, then I’ll put something pretty aggressive on that,” he said. “I just want to like carve through the field.
“But then if I start towards the front and I just want to remain calm and composed, then It’ll just be like some happy house or like summer festival music.
“And yeah, it’s probably a lot right now with the shirt. There’s a lot going on but, hey you gotta be a little bit fun sometimes,” the Australian added.
To go well with the headphones, Ricciardo displayed his iPod, which he felt has become vintage at the moment. He also mentioned that the iPod is something that he could not have lived without as well.
Overall, it is almost impossible to not notice the headphones, even from a long distance, considering its vibrant colors. Watch the Portuguese Grand Prix, which is set to take place this weekend, to catch a glimpse of his headphones.
