Sebastian Vettel sent a powerful message to his critics last Sunday. In the testing conditions of the Turkish Grand Prix, it was the Ferrari no. 5 that took the chequered flag after Sergio Perez.

Charles Leclerc had mentioned that his German teammate is far from done in his F1 career. Although his stint with Ferrari did not see Vettel continue his run for championships, it has injected a fresh zeal in him.

Otmar Szafnauer and several others still believe that Vettel can get back to his earlier form. All he needs is a bit of love and a car that suits him. Racing Point rebranded as Aston Martin might be that sunny place for him.

Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari is a long drawn drama this season. Fate destined the bitter relationship between them to end in the manner it is at this point. However, Vettel clarified back in Turkey that he still has it and will be equally competitive next season.

“Well, I’m already convinced that I can make the difference. But I’m not alone either. To believe that would be presumptuous. Formula 1 is a sport in which you are very dependent on technology.

“The same applies to earlier times: If you had put the best drivers in the worst car, those in front would not have appeared either.” rang Vettel’s epiphany.

Sebastian Vettel complains F1 has become sterile

To think that Sebastian Vettel has lost his focus and his mojo round the track, is naïve. While one might say that he has not outshined his performance from last year, we have to consider the severe pressure he is in at Ferrari.

The journalist from ZEIT had questioned the essence of Vettel in a car ahead of this year. Although that is a tough call on the racer, Vettel managed it as calmly as he always does.

“Of course, a driver can still make a difference. But in a world that is striving for ever greater perfection, it can be argued how large this proportion is. Perhaps it would be good for Formula 1 if it wasn’t always so perfect.

It has become more and more sterile, especially when it comes to driving: every centimeter is recorded with onboard cameras, the lines we drive are recorded, we can compare, even across teams, with the GPS data,” elaborated Vettel.

Sebastian is gearing up for his stint with Aston Martin. His race at Turkey was his first call for redemption.
