Formula One cars are set to race around the famous Nürburgring circuit this weekend, and our in house German could not be happier. Racing at one’s home track brings joy to every racer, and the 4-time World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, is no different. The German recently opened up about his favorite part of the track.

Vettel expressed his views on the layout of the Nürburgring circuit. “As far as the route is concerned, my favourite section is the part around the Dunlop hairpin,” the German said.

I don’t know if it’s still called that. It is the farthest area from the start/finish. Where it first goes down and you come up again, continue through the ‘S’ to the two-bit curves.

I think one of them was even called the RTL curve. The part is still the old part of the route and has a lot of character. It’s a shame that the Castrol-S, the chicane, no longer exists,” Vettel said.

The route has been rebuilt and thus the first part was somewhat stalled for us drivers. It is no longer beautifully rhythmic. But the rest of the route is great.”

The circuit is making a comeback into the F1’s racing calendar after a period of six years. F1 last raced on the circuit in 2013. The fans could well be looking at another unpredictable race.

Apart from that, Nurburgring’s weather is something to watch out for. The temperatures are expected to remain sub-8° during the weekend. To make it sound even more interesting, rains are predicted throughout the weekend.

The Eifel Grand Prix this weekend is likely going to be a treat to watch for all the F1 fans.

What a shame, that this is not the case. But it’s great that we’re going back this year.”

The last race that took place at Nordschleife was back in 1976, during which former World Champion, Niki Lauda, suffered a life-threatening accident.
