In Formula One, your teammate is your biggest rival. However, for Sergio Perez, having to drive alongside Max Verstappen has been a blessing as it helps him become a better driver.

The Dutch driver is a force to be reckoned with and can outshine his teammate at the Milton-Keynes-based outfit. Hence, seeing the work ethic of the Red Bull prodigy, Perez wants to raise his level for the 2022 season.

Sergio Perez is inspired by Max Verstappen to raise his game for the next season

Perez joined Red Bull at the start of the season and having a teammate like Verstappen can be a daunting task. However, Perez sees the brighter side of things, as Max helps him improve his game in Formula One.

When asked by Autosport, he said, “It’s been extremely intensive. A lot of work has been done behind the scenes, a lot of pressure. When you are at Red Bull Racing the pressure is on and everyone is watching you, what you do and you guys are obviously a lot harder to a Red Bull driver, which is very understandable.”

“But it hasn’t been easy, but it has brought me onto another level, and having Max as a team-mate it really pushes you to new levels. I’m enjoying it a lot at this point of my career, I’m very happy, and that’s the most important.”
