Toto Wolff Reveals Rain Factor in Key Lewis Hamilton F1 Decision at Turkish GP

As teams prepare for the Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul, one of the most talked-about topics is whether Lewis Hamilton will use a new engine for the race. If the Mercedes driver does opt for a new power unit, he would start at the back of the grid.

However, Team Principal Toto Wolff is skeptical if they will use a new engine for this weekend. But at the same time doesn’t cross the idea, as there is rain predicted for the race.

The title fight between Hamilton and arch-rival Max Verstappen has never been this intense. Additionally, there are rumors about Lewis getting a new power unit which could make the race more interesting. However, Wolff doesn’t think a new engine would be used unless there are chances of rain.

As quoted by SoyMotor Wolff said, “It is very unlikely that Lewis will debut a power unit in Turkey, unless he has a problem in training.”

“After Turkey, we must decide the most favorable place to start the engine. It must be on a track that is very favorable or very unfavorable for us … or where the rain occurs,” the Austrian boss explained. (Translated from Spanish via Google)

The 7-times world champion regained the top spot in the standings after his heroics at the Russian Grand Prix. However, Lewis doesn’t have any breathing space, as the Red Bull prodigy is just two points behind him.

Hence, it is no surprise that Hamilton would bring his A-game to the Istanbul Park this weekend, with the hopes of grabbing a win. The Knight aims to keep the Dutch driver in his rearview mirror and grab another victory for the Silver Arrows.

On the other hand, Verstappen would aim to bounce back after suffering defeat in Sochi. Nevertheless, things will get exciting as the two titans face each other once again this weekend.
