Max Verstappen thinks Mick Schumacher did a superb job in F2, which resulted in him winning the championship. However, the Red Bull prodigy also believes that Schumacher Jr. has a lot to learn ahead of his debut season.

The German will begin his F1 career with the Haas team in the 2021 season. He will pair alongside his former F2 rival, Nikita Mazepin, for his debut season on the grid. After a disappointing season last year, the team hopes that these two rookie drivers will help them get ahead in the grid in the upcoming season.

Haas only scored three points last season, which saw them finish 9th in the constructor’s standings. But with two new rookie drivers behind the wheel, they remain optimistic they will have a good season ahead.

Mick Schumacher can afford to make mistakes, says Red Bull’s Verstappen

In an interview with F1Insider.com, the Dutchman said, “For Mick, of course, it’s great to be racing in Formula 1 now. He did a great job in Formula 2 and deserves to move up. But it’s also clear that he still has a lot to learn. His Haas team is perfect for him.”

Verstappen added, “Because you can’t expect him to win there. He can make mistakes there without too much pressure and then learn from them. I’m sure he’ll do a good job. He’s always been very good, especially in terms of consistency. Of course, as everywhere else, the yardstick will be his teammate. He has to beat him.”
