WATCH: Lewis Hamilton Reveals His Cheat Day Meals

Lewis Hamilton follows a strict diet that propels him to success. He tries to eat as healthy as he can to keep himself in top shape for Formula 1 driving. The Briton went vegan recently to not only have better health but also to help save the environment.

Having a plant-based diet means he doesn’t consume any meat or dairy products. He has porridge and healthy vegan pancakes for breakfast. Falafel sandwiches and a quinoa power bowl provide him the required energy for race weekends.

Does Hamilton have cheat days?

The quick answer is yes. The Mercedes driver indulges now and then. Even the notoriously diet strict Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has them. Though, he doesn’t do it too often.

“I do have cheat days. Not too often. But if I do have cheat days, my cheat day would be pasta. Pasta and pizza on the same day is pretty cheating. But I don’t do it too often, it’s just that I never feel too good after it if I am being honest.”

Hence, the 7-time world champion is trying to limit his cheat days. He is ‘hungry’ for more success. The key to that, he believes, is listening to your body. In the modern era, all the best athletes, be it LeBron James or Cristiano Ronaldo are pioneers of fitness. He is following that path.

“As I have got older, I have been more tuned to what my body likes and dislikes. And the effects could be your skin, could be in energy. And so every day I wake up, I just Wanna work towards feeling better and being better and that’s what I am trying to do.”

Lewis Hamilton inspires others to believe

His record-equalling win in Turkey came against the backdrop of tough conditions. As his boss Toto Wolff has constantly emphasized, he is a master at overcoming adversity. Sending a message to all the aspiring drivers of his background, he said –

“Stay true to yourself. Believe in yourself. Do not listen to negativity if there is any. There is this mentality that we have to work ten times harder than those who we are often competing against but don’t use that as a limiting factor.”

Remarkable words from a remarkable champion. Pushing boundaries and breaking records; he transcends the sports like no other Formula 1 driver.
