In the realm of F1 motorsport, there are a number of teams that participate. Further, amongst all other teams, the Scuderia Ferrari has the richest history in F1.

The Italian giants have etched their presence in F1 since time immemorial. It is the oldest team in F1, and started the same year as F1, in 1950.  However, for the engine system in F1 cockpits, hi-definition technologies are in use.  The manufacturers require an ample amount of sponsorship deals for crafting the engine and chassis of the cockpit. Further, substantial financial stability is a major requirement for the building of the engine system.

The constructors in F1 though build their own chassis, however, the teams can take the engines of the cockpits from the manufacturers. In the realm of F1, there are four manufacturers, Ferrari, Mercedes, Honda, and Renault. Though, the 2021 season will be the last season for Honda in motorsports.

The F1 engine is a beast in terms of technology and design. Equipped with an array of energy recovering system with fuel flow restrictions in place. A V6, 1.6-liter engine with turbocharging and hybrid-electric technologies, gives the perfect taste of power.

There are specifications, and limitations set by the FIA that fix the power output of the engine. Strictly imposed regulations leave little room for innovation. However, engineers can explore a lot of things, including design, drivability, and overall engine performance.

The F1 Teams that Run with Engines of Ferrari

Ferrari, the oldest team in F1 racing, has manufactured their engines from the very beginning. It supplies engines to some other teams, and it builds its own engines too. With engines of their own, the cars with engines of Ferrari have achieved 239 podium finishes since 1991.

In the 2020 Season, the Italian Giants, Scuderia Ferrari, supplied engines to Alfa Romeo Racing and Haas F1 Team.

Alfa Romeo, the Swiss team, uses engines powered by the Italian giants since 2015.  The team gets a supply of a v6 turbocharged engine. Further, with a limitation of 15,000 RPM built-in a mid-mounted, rear-wheel-drive layout. Furthermore, the engine capacity is 1.6 liters.

Subsequently, the electric motor used gets powered by Ferrari too- a kinetic and thermal energy gaining system. Further, the engine-transmission takes place in the cockpit in the ideal form. It amasses an 8-speed quick-shift carbon gearbox, longitudinally crafted. It has a carbon-composite clutch, too.

The Haas F1 Team, which procures an American license, uses an engine supplied by Scuderia Ferrari since 2016. The internal combustion engines of V6 turbo have been consistent in the Haas F1 team since 2016. Ferrari supplies the engines for the cockpits of Haas since the team’s inception in the arena of F1 racing. It proves to be one of the most powerful engines. In addition, Ferrari produces engines for their own team too.

The engine supplier of these teams, Scuderia Ferrari, is the team with a raging history in the F1 grid. The oldest team in F1 in 2020 went through serious engine issues. However, fixing all such issues, the team is trying hard to return to its earlier fierce form.
