Max Verstappen has undoubtedly been the second-best driver on the grid for the last few years now. The Dutch phenom has time and again displayed the kind of talent and consistency which suggests that he will be a future world champion.
However, for him to realize his dream of winning the title, Lewis Hamilton has to retire, or move to a team not named Mercedes. Both those outcomes seem unlikely, at least for the next few years. “But I also expect others to have a step. So I just hope that that ours is a bit bigger than the others.”
