Popular Twitch streamer xQc has been handed a temporary Twitch ban for his actions at GlitchCon. The Former Overwatch pro turned streamer has been at the center of several controversies over the years; however, after a long spell without one, he is in trouble again.

The whole fiasco began when the community found out that xQc was indeed stream sniping at the Fall Guys event. The prize to be won was $11K and some big-name streamers were competing for the same.

While the game was on, xQc knew that he would be eliminated. Keeping that in mind, he decided to try and stop other streamers from qualifying for the next round. He was successful in one attempt where he was eliminated, but his teammate qualified. It was pretty evident that he was watching Dr Lupo’s stream and was targeting him then. Even though his team did not win the event, his stream sniping fiasco was exposed soon.

Shroud wasn’t sure about the length of the ban xQc would receive

Shroud, who was also a part of the same tournament, was furious at this development. At one point he also said that all the respect that he had for xQc was gone. According to Shroud, no ‘big(Twitch) partner’ would ever do that, let alone at an event of this magnitude. Clearly, xQc violated Twitch’s TOS and rightfully received a temporary ban.

In an announcement on Twitter, Twitch said, “We take Twitch Rivals Player Conduct very extremely seriously. This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be taken lightly. We reserve the right to impose any additional penalties at our sole discretion”

Twitch usually does not provide any details on the bans, but at least there was a good reason here. Considering Dr Disrespect still doesn’t know the reason behind his permanent ban, xQc should consider himself lucky that his actions were acknowledged and the punishment is comparatively mild. He has received a 6-month ban which could even be extended if Twitch thinks so.

xQc also addressed the stream sniping situation himself earlier which could also be the reason for such lenient treatment. Furthermore, this action by Twitch is also necessary as it proves that punishments for such mistakes are the same for all. Hopefully, he will have learned his lesson and will be back soon after a short period of absence.
