Former UFC Champion Mocks Colby Covington for Acting Like Conor McGregor

The American Top Teams seems to be one of the best gyms out there which has some elite level of fighters. Dustin Poirier, Jorge Masvidal, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Colby Covington are some of the well-known athletes from the gym. However, it does not seem like they are all is well in ATT at the moment. The beef that started between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal has now Poirier and Joanna Jedrzejczyk in it.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk made her return to UFC strawweight against Michelle Waterson and dominated her in the main event of UFC Tampa. With that performance, she has put the strawweight champion, Zhang Weili on notice. Days after the fight the former strawweight champion has also issued some harsh statements for his teammate, Colby Covington.

Colby Covington started insulting his former best friend Jorge Masvidal when Masvidal started asking for a title shot against Kamaru Usman. Now rightfully Covington does deserve the title shot, and him coming after Masvidal who was trying to take the contender spot from him makes sense. However, considering Covington and Masvidal were best friends for a long time that was a tough pill to swallow. Even ATT teammate, Dustin Poirier was not supportive of Covington’s trash talk to his teammate, Jorge Masvidal.

Former strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk when asked about Covington’s recent actions, said:

“Colby is something else. We let him be. I wish Usman beats his ass. I should not say this cause we always should support people. But Colby is just acting weird you know. He is an ugly guy.”

She also believes that Covington is trying to imitate Conor McGregor to build his brand value, however, it’s not impressive to Jedrzejczyk at all.

“He (Covington) is acting like he is Conor McGregor, trying to show in the video like people open the door for him, he is driving fancy cars. it is not true guys, it is not true. He is a hard worker and he is the champ but no, I don’t buy it.” said Jedrzejczyk.

“Never talk bad about your teammates. Does not matter you like them or not. We should respect each other. We train hard and we support each other.” said the former strawweight champion.

Colby Covington will take on the champion, Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title in the main event of UFC 245. However, before that Jorge Masvidal will face Nate Diaz in UFC 244. If Masvidal wins that match then it will be hard to deny him the next title shot. With both Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal right on the top of the division, it’s safe to assume that sooner or later they will face each other in the octagon.
