Every racing fan knows that Formula One is the pinnacle of motorsport, and hence very difficult to get into. Aspiring drivers need a whole load of talent to enter as well as several accolades. Being a child of a well-known Formula One driver is a nice bonus, but they still need the goods to deliver.

There is also the added pressure of being compared to their father and living up to their reputation. Some of these drivers have yet to reach the big stage and have a chance to do so.

Giuliano Alesi is the son of former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi and he is currently racing in the 2019 FIA Formula 2 championship. Admittedly, he is not exactly setting the stage alight, but he is quite talented. During his time in the GP3 series, he did win a few races and his highest championship position is 5th. Further making his path easier is the fact that he has been inducted into the Ferrari Academy.

Mick Schumacher

Arguably one of the biggest names on the list and the driver market, Mick Schumacher seems destined for an F1 seat. However, there will be a lot of hype surrounding him, especially given his lineage, namely, he is the son of Michael Schumacher. So, there is a lot of pressure on him to live up to Michael’s legacy. Like Alesi, Mick Schumacher is also competing in the Formula 2 Championship, and is part of the Ferrari Academy.

David Schumacher

David Schumacher is the son of Ralf Schumacher, and the nephew of Michael Schumacher. While he is not as well-heralded as Mick, David is battling for the 2019 Formula Regional European Championship. The 17-year old currently sits in 3rd place and has a win and three podiums to his name. However, given that he is only 17, he still has a long way to go.

Pietro Fittipaldi

Pietro Fittipaldi is possibly the closest candidate to a Formula One seat, as he is a reserve driver for Haas. Admittedly, Haas have openly said that they are hesitant to allow rookies, but with their drivers unable to keep their hands to themselves, they may not have a choice. Pietro is one of Emerson Fittipaldi’s grandsons and he has a reasonable standing in motorsport. The Brazilian is currently competing in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and has a best finish of 5th.
