While the sex of a gamer has nothing to do with their skill, controversies arise from the best of places. Nevertheless, several pros came to her aid on Twitter, explaining how this disrespectful behavior is intolerable. No one could properly appreciate the fact that this is happening for the first time in history.

Hats off to the youngster who showed more maturity than the rest of the community.

Reflecting on the sorry state of gender bias in eSports @Hammancheez said, “I was going to joke about how bad it is that girls can play games and beat us men because we’ll have nothing left. Then of course I realized the actual wave of misogynistic horror that is probably being aimed at this kid who dared to compete. We have so much to fix in esports.”

This sort of toxicity is ingrained from generations of normalization. It will take time and a lot of effort, but hopefully, eSports can become one of the free forms of expression for any and all genders.
