Fortnite: Misconceptions And Tips To Know Before Setting Your Key Bindings

October 19, 2020 10:24 pm

Fortnite is just one of those games where a lot is always happening in a short period of time. That is one of the key reasons why people are in awe of gamers who play Fortnite better than most. While a lot of the skill comes from constant practice and grinding, there are few other factors that influence it.

One of them is getting your key bindings right. Fortnite is a unique battle royale game that asks a lot more from a player than most regular third-person shooters. Even if a player has mastered hip firing and strategic movements, there is a lot more to take into account. One of them is building and editing.

All Fortnite players need to be very swift and neat with their building. It is one of the integral defensive tactics in the game, and a good build will save your day on the island every time. Therefore, getting the right set of key binds for keyboard and mouse is very important.

Before we preach about the best key binds, however, let us discuss some common misconceptions regarding them.

First is the over preference towards optimal key binds. They might be the best options for most, but that does not mean one should never look at anything else. Experiment to know what is best for you.

The second common misconception is copying the binds of pro players. Just because it works for them it is no guarantee to work for everyone else. In fact, their bindings are carefully curated to what they need and what their strengths are. You can end up breaking your game if you only try to emulate them.

So if a player comes across a key bind they cannot find success with, the best option is to switch to something comfortable.

Using all the mouse buttons. There are five buttons that can give the quickest access to any swift activity. Set these buttons for the actions that need constant repetition. A good tip would be to use the side buttons for building and editing. Another one would be to use the scroll button for reloading.

Keep all your binds close to the W, A, S and D keys. That should make your movements a lot faster at critical moments in the game. Lastly, try not to use your strong finger for more than two options.
