Fortnite v12.61 Patch Brings New Challenges, Controller Adjustments and Major Leaks for Doomsday Event

The update 12.61 for Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2, went live after the downtime ended, as announced by the official Fortnite Status Twitter account. Players can now download the latest update on all platforms PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Mobile.

The patch update brings a bunch of new elements to the game, including challenges, rewards, and some aim-assist changes to PC. It is also the last update before Season 3 of Fortnite commences in early June.

Epic Games have recently begun rolling out patch notes to certain players. Prominent Fortnite data miner, iFireMonkey, provided a highlight of the notes in the form of an image on his Twitter account.

The new Storm The Agency challenges went live at 10 AM ET on May 26. These challenges offer players the chance to earn fresh rewards like a Wrap, Pickaxe, and Glider. It will also provide additional XP, and a loading screen to gift to a friend.

Adjustments for controller aim assist on PC is another inclusion in the patch notes. It follows up on last week’s patch notes where the developers mentioned about “investigating” the issue that has polarized the Fortnite community. The devs didn’t exactly reveal what changes they incorporated, but stated, “more controller adjustments incoming.”. Meanwhile, they assured to keep players informed about new updates while “keeping an eye on things.”

Apart from the new challenges and controller adjustments, the new update also implemented several bug fixes. A couple of those are mentioned below. Unable to refund the Dragoncorn Glider issue has been resolved after it’s animation was altered in the previous update.

Another issue causing iOS players to hitch and encounter a crash has also been fixed in the update.

Doomsday event leaks

The v12.61 patch also unveiled some leaks for the next event in Fortnite. Many recognized data miners have revealed information unearthed in the game files, which could hint at what the upcoming Doomsday event has in store for this season and beyond.

Credible data miner, iFireMonkey, posted his learnings about a new LTM coming to Fortnite. The LTM is named The Device, and its description reads, “Midas’ Masterplan is ready to unfold.”. You can also see the loading screen provided by the leaker.

Various gameplay cues were also added, hinting at an explosive conclusion for Season 2 and the emergence of Season 3 from it.

Meanwhile, other leakers discovered audio files of the Doomsday event and updated underwater animations. Some files also suggested the possibility of hatches near The Agency opening during the event. Other backend leaks hinted at submerged POIs originating in the new season.
