Half-Life fans have been left hanging for the third installment for two decades now. Although Valve released the VR experience Half-Life: Alyx, it didn’t give the community exactly what they wanted. While it might seem like Valve has abandoned the idea of Half-life 3, fans have been using the source engine to recreate other classic games on the platform.

One fan of Resident Evil 2, took it upon themselves to remake the game using the source engine. The mod was created in 2018 with a few updates to it over the years, but recently its resurfacing on Twitter has most of the community hooked.

A modder by the name Blood_Wraith uploaded a Resident Evil 2 Remake mod for the game Half-Life. The mod was uploaded in 2018 and was last updated in 2020. Although the mod is quite old today, it resurfaced on Twitter and gamers are rushing to get it.

The post shared a clip of a player exploring the map in the game. Players can spot some of the most iconic locations from Resident Evil 2 and the mod also has zombies with mechanics like the original games to make it more of a rounded-off experience.

The Halflife mod comes in at 1.27 GB and has been downloaded by over 500 people after the post resurfaced. The mod was uploaded with the full game with the storyline and it comes complete with all the puzzles too.

The post received over 271.2k views on Twitter. Fans took to the comments to praise the mod, with many gamers being happy that they have a reason to reboot Half-life.

While the focus was on the mod, most gamers started fixating on the spelling error the original post had. Killing two birds with one stone, the user stated, “So glad they remakeded this is game.”

While this gamer was excited to see the mod, they stated that Capcom would be quick to take the game down due to their crusades against modders.

Another gamer was excited to see the remake while saying that it looks like a Left 4 Dead mod instead.

Some love was shown for the engine the game was created in by this fan.

Amidst the long list of compliments and jokes, there was one criticism about the gun’s fire rate from one player.
