After making their mark on the gaming industry with the genre-defining Batman Arkham Series, Rocksteady Games is finally coming back. Since 2015, fans have wondered what they were working on next, and the answer was very surprising. They were working on a live service game called Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game, as its name suggests, stars the DC rogue gallery looking to kill the Justice League.

Many fans could not help but wonder: would this game be as good as the Arkham Games? How much would the change in perspective from heroes to villains affect it? Do these characters play any better than the caped crusader of Gotham City?

What can fans expect in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?

When WB announced this game, fans were no doubt excited. The recent movie was pretty good, and everyone loved what they saw. But what they saw was primarily a cinematic trailer that gave fans no indication of what the final game would be. Eventually, they launched a gameplay video showing the members of the squad working together to defeat Justice League members.

The gameplay was not met with a very positive response. Fans complained about a bunch of elements. More specifically, the gameplay mechanics looked generic. This was not what fans had come to expect from Rocksteady Games. Hence, WB and Rocksteady decided to postpone the game again. Can this game be any good, though? Yes, it can. Rocksteady is a capable development studio, and it can be easily credited with single-handedly bringing back DC superhero games to the map.

They have potential; they can create very addictive and fun gameplay mechanics. They can give their characters depth and can make controlling those characters a dream. And it would not matter if those characters were heroes or villains. In fact, controlling a bunch of immoral villains can be more fun than controlling Batman.

But at the end of the day, it all depends on how fun these characters are to play with.

Possible effects due to director’s departure

Fans might not be aware that the creative director of all the Arkham Games, Sefton Hill, left the company last year. He had been one of the founders of this studio and the main creative force behind the award-winning Arkham Trilogy.

He announced his departure from the studio last year. This means that he currently has no hand in the development of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This can make a lot of difference, so here’s hoping that the people he left behind are as passionate about their work as he was.
