It’s such early days, just building those foundations: George Russell

As reported by Autosport.com, Russell has mentioned that Williams have started developing the 2022 car. The cars next year will be a step slower, which will allow more wheel-to-wheel racing.

“It’s such early days, just building those foundations,” Russell said. “I guess from the driving perspective, you’re just constantly giving feedback from this year’s car, what you would want from next year’s car.

“But it’s a completely different ball game. I think next year, probably one of the biggest changes ever in the Formula 1 regs.” said George Russell.

He also mentioned that the 2022 season is unknown for all the teams. “Right now, I guess it’s the same for all of the teams, trying to find their feet and understanding where they can exploit and find more performance.

“But until we hit that track at the first test next year, nobody is going to have any idea.” said the Williams driver.

Can Williams and Russell finally score a point at Austria?

Russell and Williams were so close at the Styrian Grand Prix to score points. George Russell was driving in P8 before the team reported that he had a problem with the air pressure in his car.

He has another opportunity this weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix as the race will be held at the same circuit. This would be a golden chance for Williams to end their scoring drought.
