The fairy-tale journey of Ryan Giggs with Manchester United seems increasingly likely to end, as the current footballing season nears its end.  The current Assistant Manager at Old Trafford could very well part ways with his boyhood club, thus ending an association of around 24 years, if the United hierarchy decides to replace under-fire Louis van Gaal with Jose Mourinho at the end of this season.

It is a widely known fact that it is the former Welsh winger’s dream to manage the club he spent his entire career with, but to take up one of the most coveted jobs in world football, Giggs will have to prove himself to his current employers. That the imminent departure of Giggs could arrive as soon as next month has been reported by the Sunday People. The paper has written that Giggs has been urged by his fellow teammates of the famous Class of ’92 that leaving Old Trafford would perhaps be the best option for his managerial career.

Ryan Giggs has remained with the club ever since he hung up his boots two years ago. He was United’s No. 2 during David Moyes’ disastrous 2013-14 campaign and was even handed the top job for four games when Moyes was sacked. He has been working closely with current manager Louis van Gaal since the Dutchman’s appointment in 2014 to achieve his dream.

It has been reported that United’s vice chairman, Ed Woodward, is unwilling to guarantee Giggs the manager’s job once Louis van Gaal eventually leaves. And with the plethora of quality managers at the disposal of United’s rivals next season along with a manager of the calibre of Jose Mourinho waiting in the wings, it would hardly surprise anyone if Giggs pays heed to the advice of his former teammates. Needless to say, his departure will leave millions of United fans all over grieving and heartbroken, should it come to pass.
