And adding to this list of athletes new to professional golf is Wales legend Gareth Bale. But what is the former footballer’s golf handicap?

After wrapping up his career in football, Welsh star Gareth Bale is all set to make his PGA Tour debut. The footballer-turned-golfer is readying himself to compete at February’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California. Retired recently this month, Bale has been known for his goal-scoring skills in numerous matches. But it’s time for fans to fasten their seatbelts as Bale is about to showcase his golfing talent next month.

“Delighted to announce I will be playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the start of next month! Let’s go,” he posted on Monday. The former Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid, and Los Angeles FC forward has put a stop to his 17-year playing career. However, his records include three La Liga titles, the Champions League five times, and the Club World Cup on three occasions.

Given that he has all the skills of a footballer, fans are delusional about his approach to golf. But for those who don’t know, Bale had a golf handicap of a remarkable two last year. And it was an improvement compared to his confession about playing off “three or four”. There’s no denying the fact that Bale is extremely talented for being an amateur. But he still has a long way to go to pose competition to major tournament golfers.

The avid player always talked about golf as more of a hobby than a career for himself. He even tweeted about how golf was an essential part of his life back in August 2022. The ex-football underdog also promoted a campaign to amplify the health benefits of playing golf. But little did we know that it would all lead to Bale developing a professional interest in the game.
