The world of golf has its eyes at St. Andrews, as the DP World Tour stars are competing at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. With some of the big names competing at the home of golf, we take a look at how much prize money is at stake at the tournament.


The ongoing Alfred Dunhill Links championship commenced on 29th September and will end on 2nd October. The event will take place at the three courses of St. Andrews: Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, and Old Course.

Similar to the past European Tour events, this event too will consist of LIV Golf players, despite the criticism from the PGA Tour players. Nonetheless, let’s take a look at the prize money and other benefits offered at the tournament.

Winner’s purse and other benefits for the Championship

A total of 168 players are competing to win the DP World Tour event. This includes some high-profile names such as Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington, Matt Fitzpatrick, and many more. The total prize money for the tournament is 4.8 million.

As per the European Tour’s prize money distribution chart rule, 16.67 percent payout goes to the winner. In accordance with the rule, the winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will enjoy prize money of $800,000. However, along with the prize amount, the winner will also earn a lot more perks.

The winner of the European Tour event will earn 32 points in the Official World Golf Rankings. Moreover, he will also earn 915 points for the Race To Dubai, which is the final event of the Tour and will see the crowning of the Number one player on the European Tour.

Apart from the professional golf tournament, St. Andrews will also host a Pro-Am event. The purse for the Pro-Am event is $200,000, with the top 20 teams getting paid. The winning pro will win earn $50,000, while the second and third place teams will earn $30,000 and $20,000, respectively.
