As children, we find solace in the simple joys of life. And our innocence gets the better of us, we fall prey to fairy tales and fiction, like awaiting gifts from Santa Claus on Christmas. However, when myth meets reality, heartbreak and disappointment often follow. Among those with first-hand experience of the same, is former golfer turned social media sensation, Paige Spiranac, and here’s what she has to say about it.

The former golf professional spoke about the same in the latest episode of her podcast, ‘Playing a Round with Paige Renee’. She revealed how her mom lied about Santa, to her co-host Amanda Rose. She also mentioned how she felt after hearing the harsh truth about the same. Albeit, Spiranac makes a case for her mother’s sincerity, but claims this was the biggest lie her mother has ever told her.

She said, “And so I was like, my mom would never lie to me about Santa Claus. Like it just would never happen. And so everyone was telling me it doesn’t exist. But I was like Mom, like does Santa exist?

“And she goes, yes, and so I believe my mom. And finally, I was like 14, 15, and we were all sitting around it’s Christmas eve in Mancos. You know, Satna doesn’t exist and I go does Santa exist? She goes well, I think we need to talk. I did not talk to them,” she added.

Spiranac further went on to say, “I was like, bawling hysterically next morning. Because they would go all out for Christmas too. They would like put tinsel where Santa walked. And they would like eat the cake and the cookies. They wrap the presents like differently,  like, you know Santa will leave a note for us.”
