Earlier this week, Collin Morikawa flew to Japan to perform in the newly established Zozo Championship in its fifth edition. He took the lead from Thursday with a 64 but slipped a little on Friday with a 73.

On Saturday with the aid of birdies on five of his last six holes, he wrapped up the round with a 66. On Sunday, he went into the course with a deep desire to win and again made birdies on the third and three of the last four holes. In the end, he won with 6 strokes over second-placed Eric Cole and Beau Hossler. His total weekly score is 14-under 266 at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan. This win became all the more special for Collin Morikawa whose parents were born and raised in Japan.

Morikawa won the first prize of $1.53 million out of the $8.5 million purse. This has increased his wealth. So far he has won 5 times on the PGA Tour. He has made 32 top 10 finishes and 19 top 5 finishes. His net worth is estimated at $24,946,135. He has also big brands as his sponsors. The biggest name is Adidas with whom he signed a multi-year deal in 2019.

Other names are KPMG, Zurich Insurance and, probably Omega as well since he has been spotted wearing things that are worth thousands of dollars on two occasions. He also has a multi-year sponsorship deal with the US Bank which is his premier bank sponsor for branding and their name appears on his bag.

In the interview, after receiving the trophy he expressed his elated feelings. “It feels so good. I knew I was going to get here at some point but it’s like getting your first win or major. People start asking questions and asking why. I had to really look back and ask myself what’s wrong? What’s the why? What’s the reason behind finishing second or fifth versus a win? This win means the world.”
