The jitters around the Hero Indian Open were only growing stronger until now. But what changed? Well, it is being reported that the play being held at the DLF Golf & Country Club has been suspended for Friday. The reason behind this is dangerous weather conditions, more specifically, lightning.

It seems that the PGA Tour’s 2024 weather curse, which transferred to the LPGA Tour at first, has now made its way to the DP World Tour as well. Initially, the event was set to continue until March 31st. But will the harshness posed by nature continue in the remaining two days? Well, chances are low.

The weather forecast for Saturday states that there is only a 1% chance of a thunderstorm and a low 3% chance of precipitation. The weather is expected to be very warm with hazy sun throughout the day. Therefore, it is highly likely that the game will continue if the ongoing weather troubles subside.

After all, the second event of the Asian Swing is one of the toughest tests on the Tour as it is, due to the challenging 18-hole Championship Course designed by Gary Player. The field is star-studded with past champions Stephen Gallacher and Anirban Lahiri. Rasmus Hojgaard sadly had to withdraw from the event after he made an unfortunate quadruple bogey on Thursday.

Even though it is dubious whether these wishes will come true or not but LIV golfer, Anirban Lahiri, displayed compassion towards those who were there to talk to him!

Anirban Lahiri wins hearts with chivalry in the challenging weather

Even in the wake of deteriorating weather, Lahiri took time out of his busy schedule to convey his concerns regarding the safety of the reporters on the golf course. After the play got suspended, the golfer told the media representatives that he would try to answer their questions the next day.

He also expressed concern for their well-being and suggested that he continue his interrupted second round the next day or whenever it resumes. In a sheer display of compassion and empathy, Lahiri said, ”You need to get shelter, guys; it’s not safe. Hopefully, I will play tomorrow.”
