Tiger Woods made his professional debut in 1996 with Nike already signing him. His 1996 contract was estimated to be worth $40 million. The contract expired after five years in 2001. Regardless, Nike renewed it. The 2001 deal was estimated to be $100 million by ABC News.

The third deal was signed in 2013 for a reported $20 to $40 million annually. This was then extended for the next undisclosed period and amount. Nonetheless, Business Insider cited the deal amounting to $200 million. The deal is ongoing, but there were speculations about a possible breakup.

The rumors emerged in 2022 when Woods came back for the Masters at Augusta National with a change in attire. While sporting the swoosh logo on his chest, the 15-time major champion wore FootJoy shoes on the range. The reason, apparently, was to do with comfort.

Yet, Woods confirmed his partnership with Nike as he voiced his backing in a press conference. “Nike’s been fantastic over the year for providing me with equipment and work. We’ve been working on trying to find something to allow me to do this and swing again. We’re still going to continue doing it and hopefully, we’ll have something soon.”

Soon after, Nike also released a statement saying, “Like golf fans around the world, we are delighted to see Tiger back on the course. He is an incredible athlete, and it is phenomenal to see him returning to the game at this level. His story continues to transcend sport and inspire us all. As he continues his return, we will work with him to meet his new needs.” As of now, the deal is continuing without a hurdle unless any of the parties reveal one.
