While playing on the course, multiple factors end up affecting one’s game. Justin Thomas, one of the most popular players on the PGA Tour, recently spoke about courses on the tour being challenging or not challenging enough. Considering the debate surrounding the topic, Thomas’ views provide just some more insight.

According to Thomas, the course is not always behind the result. While some might disagree, some will see the reasoning behind Thomas’ work.

What does Justin Thomas have to say about courses on the PGA Tour?

To Thomas, it is frustrating that people have been saying the course set up and Kapalua was easy. “Look, I don’t know how many times I have to say it but if you give us soft greens and no wind, we are going to shoot nothing,” Thomas said before the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

He further explained that a little win on firm greens can result in a high score, while rain and no wind, with some soft green, give way for a lower score. “It’s not like the Tour’s setting up the course every day saying, ‘We want 18 under to win this week.’ Mother Nature ultimately has the final say in how challenging a course proves to be”.

Furthermore, the 28-year-old added that if he had to win at a place, he’d maybe choose TPC Kuala Lumpur. However, it is what it is in the end and one has to make the best out of what they are given.

Jon Rahm’s reaction turns heads

While at the La Quinta Country Club in California for the American Express, Jon Rahm was caught criticizing the setup on camera. “Piece of sh*t f**king setup,” Rahm can be heard saying, adding that it was akin to a putting contest.

Having said that, Rahm, Thomas, and Dustin Johnson will be starting together at the Farmers Open. Thomas last played the Sentry Tournament of Champions, where he finished T5. Rahm came in second during the same but finished T14 at the American Express.
