Women’s Golf Makes Massive Evolution for the First Time in the 21st Century

The sport of golf has gone through many changes over the years. However, there has always been a delay in the development of women’s golf. Nonetheless, that is soon going to change. As per reports, for the first time in 23 years, we will have a mixed-gender tournament in golf.

The 2022 QBE Shootout will kick off on December 7 and will be held till December 11th. The event is set to take place at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples. Notably, just days before the event, the players were informed of a historical change during a meeting in the Bahamas.

A revolutionary moment for Women’s Golf
The upcoming QBE Shootout will include two LPGA stars; Lexi Thompson and Nelly Korda. Though the addition of the two female golfers this year is an immense feat, the next year’s event will break all the barriers.

Thompson, as well as Korda, will have more female companies next to each other in the 2023 QBE Shootout. It will be for the first time since the 1999 JC Penney Classic that such a format will be returned to the schedule. Nonetheless, the details regarding the qualification criteria or the format for next year’s event remain unknown.

As the players were informed about the mixed tournament, many players displayed their joy with the news. “I think it’s something that needed to be done for quite a while,” Billy Horschel said. He further added how the fans adore team events and also indicated how beneficial it is for the LPGA Tour as well as the PGA Tour in gaining exposure.
