Woods Sr. had a blueprint to prepare his son

In 2004, over two years before his untimely demise, the former wartime soldier asked the legend to recognize his responsibilities towards the Tiger Woods Foundation. “He said it’s your responsibility and I kind of took that over about two years ago.” Woods said.

He had a roadmap ready to help Woods while he adapted himself to assume more responsibilities. “I told him I was ready for it and he basically phased me in.”

However, the legend still faced some difficulties when he had to do it all by himself. And mostly when he had to take crucial decisions. “He gave me all of the responsibilities of running the foundation and going to all the board meetings and making all the tough decisions.“

Despite facing many challenges, the 15 time major winner has continued to honor his father’s legacy through his dedication to the sport. And his philanthropic work through the foundation.

Under Tiger’s leadership, the foundation has continued to grow and provide life-changing opportunities to children in need.

What does the Tiger Woods Foundation do?

The organization is dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people to reach their full potential. With a focus on education, the foundation provides opportunities that help young people pursue their passions and achieve their goals. 

The foundation has been in operation for over 20 years now. Through their efforts, they have helped over 175000 students annually. Moreover, they also provide employment to over a 1000 teachers.

One of the organization’s most successful programs is the Tiger Woods Learning Center. These are designed to provide students with the resources they need to succeed, both in the classroom and in life. Through interactive technology and hands-on learning experiences, they expose students to a variety of subjects. Also, they teach them the skills they need to succeed.
