‘He’s Asking Questions’: Tiger Woods Once Divulged Derek Jeter’s Other Addiction Besides Baseball

It is quite exciting to see two legends play together. But when they’re legends from different sports, it gets even more exhilarating. The GOAT, Tiger Woods, has played alongside many legends from many different sports. Woods has played with NBA superstar Michael Jordan. And in 2016, Woods was also spotted on the course with the legendary MLB shortstop, Derek Jeter.

Woods is one of the best players to ever play golf, and it is not surprising at all that he is someone people come to for advice or to improve their game, or in some cases just for the competition.

Tiger Woods and Derek Jeter’s friendship

Woods and Jeter have been friends since the 1990s. They are often seen hanging out together, and at times they have been photographed together in clubs as well. Despite being friends for decades, the first time Derek Jeter and Tiger Woods played golf together was in the Bahamas, late in November of 2016.

Along with the two legends on the course were also the former 2013 US Open champion, Justin Rose, and the former Yankee, Timo Martinez. Woods had lots to say about the five-time World Series titleholder’s game and his mindset.

Woods said that Jeter was determined and quite focused, saying, “I had talked with guys who had played with him when he first started, and they said he was spraying it around. But now he’s focused.” Woods went on to say that Jeter was addicted to the sport and that he did whatever he could to improve. He said, “He’s addicted to playing golf now,” and went on to add, “He likes to practice, likes to play. He does his fitting.”

Jeter seeks advice from Woods

It isn’t out of the ordinary for people to ask Tiger Woods for advice. But with Derek, Woods noticed that it was different. Jeter had an immense will to learn and was quite serious about improving his game. In the middle of their game at the Albany Club, Woods said that Derek asked him many questions. He said, “You can tell he’s analysing his swing, he’s asking questions.”

Woods was impressed with the questions Jeter had put forth and said, “He asked me a bunch of technical questions about the game. He wants to learn. And he asks the right questions.” When Jeter was asked about playing with Woods, he too had nothing but praise. “This is a blast. You’re playing with Tiger Woods. Doesn’t get any better than that,” he said.
