While his performance at the Genesis Invitational won the hearts of many, a joke from Tiger Woods was regarded as offensive to others. The golfer passed a Tampon to fellow golfer Justin Thomas during the ongoing PGA Tour event, sparking criticism from all sides. One of his biggest critics is a former PGA professional, who claimed to have stopped idolizing Woods in 2009.
During the first round at Genesis Invitational, Tiger was paired with his good friends, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas. At the ninth hole in Riviera Golf Club, Woods outdrove Thomas on the tee shot. After outpowering his friend, the 15-time Major winner discretely handed JT something, which was later revealed to be a Tampon.
Though many suggest the joke to be humorous between the PGA Tour duo, it ignited criticism for the Hall of Famer. One such critic was Emma Booth, a retired female golfer, who confessed her disdain for Woods in her Golf Monthly column.

Another PGA professional voices her anger against Tiger Woods
Booth currently runs the Winchester Golf Academy in England. She became a qualified golfing coach after earning the certification of PGA Professional in 2009. However, it was the same year when Tiger’s life came crashing down when his infidelity scandal became public. The Hall of Famer endured a lot of hate for his poor decision-making.
"I am not in any denial that professional male golfers outdrive female professional golfers, what I’m not a fan of though is one of the biggest role models in sport using women as punchline" – @Ladygogolfhttps://t.co/l2DUuhwsIw

In her latest article for Golf Monthly, Emma Booth claimed that the fans should have stopped looking up to Woods back in 2009. Booth then wrote about Tiger’s tampon controversy and how it “was a very poor choice of joke”. She even labeled the PGA Tour star as one who “perpetuates misogynistic stereotypes for fun” before further scrutinizing the golfer.
In the end, the PGA Professional ends by taking a dig at Tiger Woods. She claims to be aware of how male golfers outdrive female stars in the sport. But according to Emma Booth, “I’m not a fan of though is one of the biggest role models in sport using women as punchline”.
The article also made headlines on Twitter. Fans shared their opinion on Booth’s comments. While some sided with her, most fans came in defending the 15-time Major winner.
Golf world reacts to Woods’ criticism
This guy brought more money into golf than anyone else ever has and been through hell with injuries and has outdrove his mate. Money which will have benefited both male and female golfers. Let's let him off a joke.

The only person that should care is Justin Thomas, and he seemed ok with it. Otherwise, stop zooming in to find every possible fault with every golfer, or just stop watching altogether.

I never have, and likely never will, use any sports person as my moral compass.
Tigers joke was in poor taste, he shouldn't have done it. But there's very few, if any, golfers I follow for their sense of humour.

The funniest things always have a bit of truth. And when did Woods become golf’s biggest role model? All because you deem them that.

While it may seem a little sensitive joke form Tiger’s behalf, he has already apologized to everyone who may have felt offended. Woods now looks to end the Genesis Invitational on a positive note.
