Tour Pro Blasts the PGA of America for Hosting a ‘Pitiful’ Major on an ‘Overrated Course’

It is a celebration in the golf world when a major championship is ongoing. The fans enjoy watching the golfers compete to win the 2022 PGA Championship and add their names to the Wanamaker Trophy. Meanwhile, some golfers are not in favor of the PGA of America for picking the Southern Hills as the host. 

The Southern Hills is presently hosting the 2022 PGA Championship, and the American golfer Patton Kizzire is not satisfied with it. Furthermore, he wasn’t shy to share his thoughts with the public through social media.

“Pitiful golf on a pitiful setup,” Kizzire wrote on his ‘Instagram Stories.’ “…on an overrated golf course.” The golfer has already removed the post; hence, it is not available on his profile. However, here is a link to a screenshot of the same shared as a Twitter post. 

Turned professional in 2008, Patton Kizzire played mostly on the Korn Ferry Tour than the PGA Tour. Till now he has won two PGA Tour championship titles, including the 2018 Sony Open in Hawaii. Furthermore, he has also won two Korn Ferry Tour events. 

Notably, Kizzire has made the cut after the two rounds by scoring 69 and 75 in rounds 1 and 2, respectively. Presently, he holds a tie for the last position by scoring a 78 in the third round. 

Apart from Kizzire, English golfer Tyrrell Hatton has also criticized the Southern Hills for its greens. “It’s so hard to hole putts,” Hatton had said about the greens after playing his second round. After three rounds, Hatton is at T28 position with an overall score of 2-over par. 

Southern Hills was not the first pick of PGA of America for the 2022 major event!

Earlier, the PGA of America had chosen the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster as the host of the 2022 PGA Championship. However, after political tension concerning the former POTUS Donald Trump happened, the board members of the PGA decided to change the venue to the Southern Hills of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Notably, Southern Hills is hosting the PGA Championship for the fifth time in 2022.

The Trump National Golf Club Bedminster will be a venue for one of the LIV Golf Series, the rival league of the PGA Tour, events. According to LIV Golf’s official site, the Club will host the event from June 29 to 31.
