The Semi-final match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup between Australia and England just got over, with England coming out victorious. While we are happy for the fans of the England team, we didn’t want to leave the Australian fans disheartened.

Prior to the game, in an effort to elevate the morale of the ‘Matildas,’ the Twitter (now X) handle of Golf Australia posted a video. In the video, there was a compilation of wishes from LPGA Tour Pros who are fans of the tillies. Let’s take a look at their heartwarming wishes for their sporting counterparts.

The compilation included wishes from Minjee Lee, Min Woo Lee, Sarah Kemp, Hannah Green, Gabi Ruffels, and Karrie Webb. The Lee Siblings sounded quite fond of the Tillties. Minjee added, “You guys are not only an inspiration to me but all the girls and boys across Australia.” Min Woo congratulated them for everything that they had done on and off the field.

Sarah Kemp went a bit further than just congratulating them and wishing them luck. She made a commitment to work around her routine, to make sure she didn’t miss the match. “I’ll schedule my practice over here in the UK on Wednesday around watching you girls”. Kemp is currently all set for playing the ISPS World Invite in Ireland.

Hannah Green took the opportunity to tell the Matildas that what they had done so far in itself justified being elated. “I know that all of Australia is super proud of what you’ve already achieved.” Gabi Ruffels emphasized the same and exclaimed, “All of Australia’s watching, and are so proud.

“The whole country is pulling for you guys. Can’t wait to watch you take on the Poms.” Karrie Webb stated enthusiastically.

Although the England team won the match, it wasn’t one-sided at all. Here is a quick look at what happened in the Semi-Finals.

The goal that turned things around

The stats of the game paint a decent picture of the Tillies. With a possession rate of 42 percent and a pass accuracy of 74 percent, the team’s performance appears solid. Ella Toone scored her first goal for England in the 36th minute. And the Tillies fought hard for the next half hour to score an equaliser.

Sam Kerr at the 63rd minute, scored the much-awaited equaliser. And with about half an hour to spare, the Tillies looked like they had it in their feet. However, the consecutive goals of England in the 71st minute and the 86th minute by Lauren Hemp and Alexia Russo respectively, sealed the victory for the Lionesses. With Hemp’s goal putting pressure on the Tillies to fight for another equalizer, the game slowly slipped away from the Matildas.
