The PGA Tour announced its plan for the designated events of the 2024 season. And LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman found extreme pleasure after finding out about the electrifying new schedule the Tour has promised its fans.
According to the official website of the PGA Tour, fans can look forward to thrilling designated events, where 70-78 elite players (limited field) will participate in tournaments that have no cut, ensuring all the cream of the crop will compete across all four rounds. The format sounds familiar, right? Well, the LIV Golf players think the same.

The players on the PGA Tour can look forward to top-notch prize money and coveted FedExCup points. Moreover, the format is too similar to that of LIV golf. The Saudi-backed circuit has 14 tournaments with a no-cut format, where 48 players compete for huge purse prizes.
Lee Westwood thinks this seems like the PGA Tour’s strategy to turn the OWRs in favor of their players. He took to Twitter to share his thought and make fun of the Tour officials and players.
So.. Do away with the WGC’s. Load the OWGR in your favour. Create 10 limited field events for just PGA tour members(like WGC’s). Add to that 4 majors,Players,FedEx cup. That’s a full schedule for a top player. That’s growing the game😉. What Strategic Alliance?

Moreover, Ian Poulter took to Twitter to point out the obvious similarities. He wrote “Oh my my my… When will the penny drop with so many of what’s actually happened here. It really doesn’t take a 🚀 👩🏼🔬 to work out. And sounds very similar to another product that’s been spoken so badly about by Media and commentators. I’m all ears now 👂🏼 I’m waiting.”
And Kevin Na severed a humorous roast as well.
I thought no cut no legacy 😂

Furthermore, Greg Norman added the cherry on top of the cake by posting a picture of the tweet made by LIV Golf’s official Twitter handle, which mocked the PGA Tour. The tweet said, “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Congratulations PGA Tour. Welcome to the future.”

It seems that Norman’s team really like this quote. Because a similar tweet was made a few months ago when the PGA Tour changed its score display format.

Who can participate in the designated events?
Excitingly, the framework is set to include the crème de la crème of golf players: the top 50 from the prior year’s FedExCup standings, the top 10 from the current year’s standings who are otherwise ineligible, and the top 5 players who earn the most FedExCup points through each collection of standard events.
Furthermore, PGA TOUR members in the top 30 of the Official World Golf Rank, current-year tournament winners, and four sponsor exemptions limited to PGA TOUR members will qualify to join.

Moreover, the system has received a thumbs-up from golf superstar Rory McIlroy, who praised it for providing equal opportunities for all players. McIlroy added that the system creates a thrilling product by pitting the top players against the hot players.
